DAY TWO FIELD VISIT
Date 20 February 2016
Mumwemwe dam wall was raised and widened as a way of increasing the capacity. Stone pitching was done on both side and at the top to reduce cattle traction. 8 silt traps were constructed to reduce siltation of the dam. The dam benefits 425 households through water for livestock, domestic use and gardening When the project was visited there was low water level about 40%. The 2ha garden was not planted due to the low water level. Water is reserved for livestock since there is no other dam nearby. Mrs. Artzinger was happy to see the protected dam wall and that the project members were committed to complete the construction of silt traps.
